Sauna etiquette

A few things to know

A few things to keep the sauna experience lovely for everyone.

Changing is easy

There are private changing rooms on-site. Come with your swimwear on under your clothes, or bring it and change when you arrive. Either way, give yourself about 10 minutes before your session to settle in.

Before you go in

  • Bring a towel to sit on

Your towel goes between you and the bench. Entire bum on towel, ideally. The person sitting there after you will be grateful and it will help our benches last for longer.

  • Change here or come ready

We have private changing rooms on-site. Arrive with your swimwear on under your clothes, or bring it with you and change when you get here.

  • Have a quick rinse first

A shower before heading into the sauna keeps things fresh for everyone. Nice and simple.

  • Give your phone some time off too

Supernova is a chance to step away from the noise of everyday life. Give your phone a sauna break too. It’s probably overdue one.

Sharing the sauna

  • Read the room

Chat if you feel like it. Sit quietly if you don’t. Both are welcome here. Just remember you’re sharing the space with other people, so keep the volume somewhere south of Friday night at the pub.

  • Ask before adding water

Adding water to the stones means more steam (löyly) and a more intense experience. A little goes a long way. Pour slow and please ask others before you do.

  • Shut the door behind you

Coming in? Going out? No problem. Just make sure you close the door behind you so we can keep all that lovely heat where it belongs.

Heat and cold

  • Listen to your body

There’s no medal for staying in the longest. If you’ve had enough, listen to your body, step outside. Drink some water. Enjoy the surroundings. Go back in when you feel ready. You don’t have to white knuckle your way through.

  • The cold is optional

Cold plunge. Outdoor shower. Fresh air. Enjoy the cold if that’s your thing. Leave it if it isn’t. You do you.

Taking your time

  • Take your time

Cool down between rounds. Hydrate. Have a chat. Stare into space. There’s no need to rush while you’re here.

  • And finally

Be kind, be considerate and above all enjoy!

A space where nothing is expected from you. Breathe in, breathe out. Release, let go.
