Our story

Meet Jamie & Laura

Supernova was founded by Laura and Jamie, a couple who share a love of being outdoors, community and meaningful experiences.

Laura

One half of Supernova, kids, teen and adult yoga teacher, sauna obsessive and something of a Tasmanian devil in human form.

Laura spent years working in the fast-paced world of television and film before gradually finding herself drawn towards something slower, more intentional and more connected.

These days, she’s happiest outside. Whether it’s hiking around the Jurassic coast, climbing a mountain or pottering around a garden she’ll find any excuse to be outdoors.

Her work has always centred around creating spaces where people feel safe, seen and connected, whether that’s through yoga, time in nature or now, at the sauna.

She’s recently trained as a sauna master and can’t wait to show you how good she is at wafting a towel around.

If she’s not in the sauna, there’s a very good chance she’s pottering around outside somewhere.

A space in-between

I first heard the phrase “a space in-between” during my yoga teacher training with the incomparable Sam Bianchini. Sam spoke about it as a way of understanding presence. The space between everything that has already happened and everything that is still to come. Not lingering too long in the past or racing ahead into the future, but simply being here, now. That idea stayed with me. Because sauna can feel a lot like that.

It creates a pocket of time inside your day, your week or your month where for a while, there’s nowhere else you need to be. You can put down your phone, come back to your body, your breath, other people and the natural world around you. For us that’s what Supernova is, a space where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself and spend time with others in a way that feels relaxed, grounded and human. More than just a sauna, it’s a space in-between.

Jamie

Jamie has never had a job.

He’s an entrepreneur with a background in hospitality and community-led businesses, although these days most of his attention seems to be split between storage and saunas.

Yes, storage. The man LOVES storage.

He’s also a podcaster, ideas man, serial starter of things and more recently, a qualified sauna master.

When he’s not tending to one business or dreaming up another, he’s happiest outside on a long hike, cooking food for family and friends, or generally finding something new to get excited about.

If Laura is the Tasmanian devil, Jamie is very much the yin to her yang.

He brings a lot of the big-picture thinking, creativity and steady energy to Supernova, and somehow manages to make “storage and saunas” sound like a perfectly normal combination.

Which, to be fair, around here it is.

Our story

Find your way back to yourself. In a space where you belong.

Some of our favourite moments happen when nothing much is happening at all. A conversation around the fire. A walk outside. Looking up at the stars. Sharing a coffee with a friend.

Somewhere along the way, life got loud. Endless notifications, places to be, things to do, and something always asking for our attention.

Supernova was born from a desire to make a little more room for the simple stuff.

Not because we think life should always be slow, but because sometimes it helps to put your phone down, step outside, breathe deep and remember what it feels like to simply be.

Our home

Why Brothers Farm?

From the first time we visited Brothers Farm, it felt like the kind of place we’d always imagined Supernova becoming part of. A place built around good produce, good people, slow living and meaningful shared experiences.

It’s a place that naturally brings people together through great coffee, seasonal flowers, blueberries straight from the field and a genuine sense of community.

It feels like such a natural home for what we’re creating, and we’re so excited for Supernova to become part of everything already happening there.

A destination within a destination and exactly the kind of place we always hoped to call home.
